Below The Vaucluse
Between large sunflower fields near Carpentras and fields of wheat alternate with lavender around Sault on the Vaucluse plateau, are small fields of sunflowers with lavender sometimes, coming down the small valleys.

This is one of those places that I'd like to spend a year or so painting, east of Avignon.

Roussillon
One of the most picturesque villages of Provence, Roussillon is on a hill several miles across. The dirt is the most amazing colors - every color from buff to purple; tans, golds, oranges, browns and everything in between! And the houses in the village are those same different colors

Mes Amis...
My friends, the sunflowers, are always a joy to paint. This is one of my favorite places to paint in Provence, just a couple of miles west of Roussillon, site of the first commercial French ochre mine and just a few miles to Gordes, one of the beautiful hilltop villages, but, more importantly, just a few miles from my favorite place to drink coffee in Goult.

Sous Un Beau Ciel
Just to the north of Puylaurens about twenty five miles to the east of Toulouse is an area called by some 'The Tuscany of France'. David, the proprietor of Cap de Castel, a beautiful small hotel in Puylaurens, took us for a drive in his vintage little Citroen panel wagon and showed us this lovely area where we did several paintings.

Au – Dessous Petit Luberon
Looking to the south just outside Maubec not far from Oppède les Vieux, is this view of the beautiful Petit Luberon. Lacoste, site of Chateau de Lacoste, Marquis de Sade's residence between prisons and asylums, and Bonnieux are just up the road to the east.

Across The Lot From St Martin Labouval
We spent two months in a friend's old farmhouse upriver a couple of miles, below Calvignac, painting morning, afternoon and evening.

In The Foothills Of The Pyrenees
West of Perpignan and about forty miles from the Mediterranean, we found this classy little cabanon not too far from the headwaters of the Aude.

Near Mont Ventoux
Just a few miles outside of Flassan in the foothills of Mt, Ventoux, I painted another cabanon. Every one has it's own special charm; this one with it's rosebush still blooming!

Poppies at Dusk
Just nearly time to call it a day, when it's so still you can hear a dog bark all the way across the valley.

Vincent's Olives
Just outside Monastère St. Paul-de-Mausole in St. Remy, where Vincent spent some troubled, yet, productive time is this grove of olive trees.
